I’ve been reading and using a book that is fundamentally changing my life; Breath, by James Nestor, was published a few months ago by an author with his own breathing challenges who travelled the world and scoured through history, even thousands of years ago, to find what he called pioneers in the understanding of breath.
I am pretty thoroughly versed in a yogic understanding of breath—what is called pranayama. This book goes way beyond that to share information from historical figures who revolutionized the way people felt and used their bodies by teaching them simple breathing techniques. Those people, for all their wisdom are forgotten, their books largely out of print and unavailable.
Each week for 5 weeks we’ll explore a chapter or two of the book together, learn and practice these techniques, and see if they affect you as much as they affect me.
The dates and times for the class/club meetings are Tuesday evenings, January 5, 12, 19, 26, and February 2. Meetings are 7-9 pm.

I recently sought advice from a group of people who have taken my classes and workshops. I asked what more I could do to help people, how I could change what I'm doing, how I could be more helpful.
Several things stood out about the conversation. One was the thought of offering “Office Hours," especially in these tumultuous times. The idea is that if someone wants to talk something out or seek another perspective, I will be there. I’ve often done this informally over breakfasts after Sunday classes, in the lobby after class, and occasionally by phone.
I know how valuable this can be because I use it myself. And, God knows, things are really getting “all mixed up."
